Regular Season Round 12: Balikesir - Afyon 79-70

Very expected game when 17th ranked Afyon (2-10) was defeated on the road by fourth ranked Balikesir (9-3) 79-70 on Saturday. Balikesir outrebounded Afyon 43-28 including a 19-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American guard Aubrey Coleman (193-87, college: Houston) who scored 16 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. The other American import forward Alan Wiggins (206-85, college: USF) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. Five Balikesir players scored in double figures. Balikesir's coach Mete Babaoglu used a ten-player rotation saving starting five for next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American power forward Raymond Sykes (206-86, college: Clemson, agency: Three Eye Sports) who recorded 23 points and guard Serdar Yavuz (184-82) added 11 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists respectively. Balikesir maintains fourth position with 9-3 record. Afyon lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the seventeenth place with ten games lost. Balikesir will face Socar Petkim (#8) on the road in the next round. Afyon will play against ITU Istanbul (#16) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
