Regular Season Round 15: Cuxhaven - Kirchheim 75-85

Very expected game when 15th ranked Cuxhaven BasCats (2-13) were defeated at home by eleventh ranked Kirchheim Knights (7-8) 85-75 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Kirchheim Knights. Cuxhaven BasCats was better in second period 23-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Kirchheim Knights made 25-of-28 free shots (89.3 percent) during the game, while Cuxhaven BasCats only scored seven points from the stripe. Kirchheim Knights forced 20 Cuxhaven BasCats turnovers. It was a great evening for American Benjamin Beran (201-84, college: S.Dakota St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Jordan Wild (203-88, college: Fresno Pacific) helped adding 19 points. The best for the losing side was Bill Borekambi (199-92, college: Sequoias CC) with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds and point guard Garai Zeeb (182-97) scored 16 points and 5 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Cuxhaven BasCats' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Kirchheim Knights moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Baunach and Jena. Cuxhaven BasCats lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom position with 13 games lost. Kirchheim Knights will face league's leader s Oliver Baskets in Wuerzburg in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Cuxhaven BasCats will play at home against Nuernberg (#5) and hope to win that game.
