Regular Season Round 13: Hertener Loewen - Rist Wedel 90-79

There was a surprise result when eleventh ranked Hertener Loewen (6-7) defeated at home 3rd placed SC Rist Wedel (7-7) 90-79 on Saturday. SC Rist Wedel was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Robert Franklin (195-81, college: N.Mexico Highlands) fired a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Swingman Lars Meyer (189-89) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). American point guard Diante Watkins (174-90, college: Robert Morris) produced 30 points and 7 rebounds (made all of his twelve free throws !!!) and the other American import forward Denzell Erves (202-91, college: Xavier, LA) added 14 points and 10 rebounds respectively for lost side. Five Hertener Loewen and four SC Rist Wedel players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Hertener Loewen moved-up to eighth place in Group North, which they share with Leipzig. SC Rist Wedel lost sixth consecutive game. They dropped to the fifth position with seven games lost. Hertener Loewen will face Oldenburg (#10) on the road in the next round. SC Rist Wedel will play against Magdeburg (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
