Regular Season Round 12: Craiova - Steaua CSM 83-99

Liga Nationala top team - Steaua CSM (10-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they beat eleventh ranked Craiova (4-7) 99-83. The game was mostly controlled by Steaua CSM. Craiova was better in fourth quarter 26-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Steaua CSM dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Craiova's 36. Steaua CSM forced 19 Craiova turnovers and outrebounded them 41-27 including 28 on the defensive glass. Craiova was plagued by 31 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a quality performance of Croatian guard Pankracije Barac (196-81, agency: Court Side) who helped to win the game recording 19 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and American power forward Travis Watson (203-81, college: Virginia) who added 13 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was Serbian power forward Zoran Krstanovic (204-82) with 27 points and 6 rebounds and American forward Travis Bureau (202-88, college: La-Lafayette, agency: KMG Sports Management) scored 11 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Craiova's coach Andelko Mandic rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Steaua CSM maintains first position with 10-1 record. Craiova lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh place with seven games lost. Steaua CSM will play against Pitesti (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Craiova will play against Timba Timosoara (#12) in Timisoara and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
