Very expected game when 12th ranked Hatay (1-8) was defeated at home by fourth ranked Istanbul Universitesi (7-2) 72-60. The game was mostly controlled by Istanbul Universitesi. Hatay was better in second period 18-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Istanbul Universitesi players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. It was a good game for American guard Shenise Johnson (181-90, college: Miami, FL) who led her team to a victory with 20 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Her fellow American import center Courtney Paris (191-87, college: Oklahoma) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Four Istanbul Universitesi players scored in double figures. The former international center Korel Engin (200-80, college: Stanford, agency: Octagon Europe) answered with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds and forward Duygu Firat (189-90) added 10 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Hatay. Istanbul Universitesi have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Fenerbahce and Abdullah Gul. Hatay lost third consecutive game. They keep the twelfth position with eight games lost. Istanbul Universitesi's next round opponent will be Mersin (#7) at home which should be theoretically an easy game. Hatay will play against Osmaniye (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
