Bottom-ranked Univ.Cluj (0-12) is still winless. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their 12th consecutive match to second ranked Ploiesti (10-2) 79-67 on Sunday evening. The guests trailed by 5 points at the halftime before their 44-27 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. American forward Chris Cooper (205-90, college: ODU) fired a double-double by scoring 20 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winners. His fellow American import point guard Dee Brown (185-84, college: Illinois, agency: Priority Sports) chipped in 22 points, 7 assists and 4 steals. American guard Brian Burrell (192-84, college: UTPA) produced 20 points and 8 rebounds and forward Alin Borsa (201-90) added 8 points and 9 rebounds respectively for lost side. Ploiesti have an impressive series of five victories in a row. Defending champion maintains second place with 10-2 record behind leader Steaua CSM. Newly promoted Univ.Cluj still closes the standings with 12 games lost. Ploiesti will meet at home U-Banca TR (#8) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Univ.Cluj will play against Oradea (#5) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
