Very predictable result in Leverkusen where seventh ranked MLP Academics Heidelberg (9-6) defeated 14th ranked Bayer Giants (4-11) 73-64 on Sunday. It was a great evening for American forward Kelvin Martin (195-89, college: Charleston So.) who led his team to a victory scoring 16 points and 8 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Bradley Tinsley (191-89, college: Vanderbilt) helped adding 16 points and 8 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American power forward Jake Koch (206-90, college: N.Iowa) with 10 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and Goetz Twiehoff (198-85) scored 13 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. MLP Academics Heidelberg moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Nuernberg and Hamburg. Bayer Giants at the other side keep the fourteenth position with 11 games lost. MLP Academics Heidelberg will face Baunach (#9) at home in the next round. Bayer Giants will play against Ehingen/Urspringschule (#15) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
