Regular Season Round 12: Anadolu Efes - Darussafaka 73-72

TBL round 12 caused change at the leadership position. Third defeat of league's leader Darussafaka (9-3) against third ranked Anadolu Efes (9-3) 73-72 was the most important game of the last round. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Darussafaka. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Anadolu Efes forced 19 Darussafaka turnovers. Strangely Darussafaka outrebounded Anadolu Efes 35-22 including 24 on the defensive glass. 25 personal fouls committed by Darussafaka helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for American guard Matt Janning (197-88, college: Northeastern, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) who saved his team from a defeat with 17 points. Greek Stratos Perperoglou (203-84) contributed with 19 points for the winners. American Jamon Lukas Gordon (191-84, college: Virginia Tech) replied with 21 points and 4 assists and American-Lithuanian forward John Shurna (204-90, college: Northwestern, agency: Priority Sports) added 11 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Darussafaka. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Anadolu Efes have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Darussafaka and Besiktas. Darussafaka will play next round against Galatasaray trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Anadolu Efes will try to continue on its current victory against first ranked Fenerbahce Ulker in Istanbul.
