Regular Season Round 14: Final Genclik - Mersin 74-70
Date: December 27, 2014
Everything went according to plan in Bursa where fourteenth ranked Final Genclik (5-9) beat bottom-ranked Mersin (2-12) 74-70 on Saturday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 7 points after three quarters before their 21-10 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Final Genclik made 10 blocks. Mersin was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Damien Kinloch (203-80, college: Tenn Tech) had a double-double by scoring 14 points, 14 rebounds and 7 blocks to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import guard Reginald Holmes (193-87, college: Morgan St., agency: Two Points) chipped in 19 points during the contest. Four Final Genclik players scored in double figures. American guard Henry Antwan Dobie (183-78, college: LIU Brooklyn) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 assists and American-Lebanese swingman Antwain Barbour (196-82, college: Kentucky, agency: Three Eye Sports) scored 18 points and 7 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Mersin's coach gave the chance to play for ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Final Genclik moved-up to twelfth place. Mersin lost fifth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 12 games lost. Final Genclik will face higher ranked Meliksah (#11) in Kayseri in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Mersin will play at home against Akhisar Bld (#5) and hope to win that game.
