Regular Season Round 14: Buyukcekmece - Gediz 96-83

TB2L top team - Buyukcekmece (13-1) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat ninth ranked Gediz (7-7) 96-83. The game was mostly controlled by Buyukcekmece. Gediz was better in third quarter 27-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great shooting night for Buyukcekmece especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Gediz was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American point guard D.J. Thompson (173-85, college: Appalachian St.) notched 21 points and 7 assists to lead the effort and the other American import power forward Kahiem Seawright (206-86, college: Rhode Island) supported him with 18 points and 9 rebounds. Even a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) by center Enver Ekmen (207-83) did not help to save the game for Gediz. Power forward Eren Ocakturk (204-87, agency: 1x1 Sports) added 18 points and 9 rebounds for the guests. Four Buyukcekmece and five Gediz players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Buyukcekmece have an impressive 12-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 13-1 record. Newly promoted Gediz dropped to the eighth place with seven games lost. They share the position with Adanaspor and Yesilgiresun. Buyukcekmece will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Gediz will play at home against Balikesir (#4) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
