Regular Season Round 21: Khimik - BC Kyiv 95-64

Undefeated leader Khimik delivered the eighteenth consecutive win on Sunday night. This time they crushed 5th ranked BC Kyiv (9-9) 95-64 in Yuzhny. The hosts trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 95-64. Khimik forced 21 BC Kyiv turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by BC Kyiv's players. The best player for the winners was the former international center Igor Zaytsev (210-89) who scored 14 points and 7 rebounds. American point guard Derek Needham (180-90, college: Fairfield) chipped in 10 points, 8 assists and 4 steals. Four Khimik players scored in double figures. Khimik's coach Karlis Muiznieks felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international Ruslan Otverchenko (192-90, agency: Beo Basket) who recorded 16 points and the former international Artem Shvets (200-85) added 15 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Khimik (18-0) have an impressive series of eighteen victories in a row. They maintain first place with a perfect record of 18 victories in a row. BC Kyiv at the other side dropped to the sixth position with nine games lost. Khimik will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. BC Kyiv will play on the road against Hoverla (#9) in Frankivsk and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
