An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Vilnius. Third ranked Neptunas faced second-best Lietuvos rytas. Guests from Klaipeda (15-2) defeated host Lietuvos rytas (15-3) 94-90. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Lietuvos rytas. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Lietuvos rytas was trailing by 3 points at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 23-20 charge of Neptunas, which allowed them to win the game. Neptunas outrebounded Lietuvos rytas 41-28 including 27 on the defensive glass. 28 personal fouls committed by Lietuvos rytas helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was the former international forward Deividas Gailius (200-88) who scored 27 points (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Guard Martynas Mazeika (193-85, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 19 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was swingman Gediminas Orelikas (200-90) who recorded 24 points and 5 rebounds and the former international center Ksistof Lavrinovic (209-79) added 15 points respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Neptunas moved-up to second place. Lietuvos rytas at the other side dropped to the third position with three games lost. Neptunas are looking forward to face Juventus (#4) in Utena in the next round. Lietuvos rytas will have a break next round.
