NBL top team - Lukoil Acad. (11-0) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat fifth ranked Rilski (5-5) in Samokov 86-76. Rilski was ahead by 2 points at the halftime before a 40-28 second half run of Lukoil Acad.. The winners were led by American point guard Terry Smith (185-86, college: Mercyhurst) who scored that evening 28 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and Croatian center Bruno Sundov (221-80) supported him with 23 points and 9 rebounds. Even a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds by Montenegrin forward Zarko Rakocevic (204-84) did not help to save the game for Rilski. American power forward Tony Gugino (207-86, college: Hillsdale) added 14 points and 7 rebounds. Four Rilski players scored in double figures. Rilski's coach Rosen Barchovski rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Lukoil Acad. have an impressive 11-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 11-0 record. Rilski at the other side keeps the fifth place with five games lost. Lukoil Acad. will play against bottom-ranked Spartak Pleven (#9) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Rilski will play against Beroe (#6) in Stara Zagora and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
