Regular Season Round 22: Mazeikiai - Lietkabelis 66-71

Bottom-ranked Mazeikiai is still unable to win any game. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their 19th consecutive match to ninth ranked Lietkabelis (7-13) 71-66. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 23-17. But Mazeikiai won second period 16-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Lietkabelis won last quarter 13-10. Forward Zygimantas Jonusas (201-82) scored 15 points and 5 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and naturalized Canadian point guard Evaldas Zabas (188-88) chipped in 13 points, 5 assists and 5 steals during the contest. Lietkabelis' coach Mindaugas Budzinauskas allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. At the losing side point guard Eigirdas Zukauskas (201-92) responded with 25 points and 6 rebounds and Latvian forward Raimundas Danys (196-85) scored 14 points. Lietkabelis moved-up to eighth place. Newly promoted Mazeikiai still closes the standings. Lietkabelis will play against league's leader Zalgiris in Kaunas in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Mazeikiai will play at home against Dzukija (#7) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
