Regular Season Round 15: I.T.U. - Socar Petkim 94-89

We should mention about the upset which took place in Istanbul, where higher ranked Socar Petkim (8-7) lost to seventeenth ranked ITU Istanbul (5-10) in a road game 89-94. Socar Petkim was ahead by 2 points at the halftime before a 47-40 second half run of ITU Istanbul. Socar Petkim was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American forward Marshall Moses (198-89, college: Oklahoma St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 32 points and 11 rebounds (went 12 for 12 at the free throw line !!!). Guard Onur Sonsirma (190-85, agency: 1x1 Sports) contributed with 16 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. American forward Tyler Smith (201-86, college: Tennessee) answered with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists and American-DR Congolese center Bambale Osby (203-86, college: Maryland) added 18 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Socar Petkim. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Socar Petkim's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. ITU Istanbul moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Final Genclik and Mamak DSI. Newly promoted Socar Petkim keeps the sixth position with seven games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. ITU Istanbul will play against higher ranked Yesilgiresun (#8) in Giresun in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Socar Petkim will play at home against Mamak DSI and hopes to get back on the winning track.
