Regular Season Round 15: Mamak DSI - Afyon 95-89

Everything could happen in Ankara at the game between two tied teams. Both sixteenth ranked Mamak DSI and 14th ranked Afyon had identical 4-10 record. This time Mamak DSI used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Afyonkarahisar 95-89 on Saturday night. The hosts trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 52-42 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. It was a great evening for American guard Jason Clark (188-90, college: Georgetown) who led his team to a victory scoring 33 points (!!!) and 4 assists (went 11 for 11 at the free throw line !!!). Forward Mustafa Bakir Gorur (204-88, agency: 1x1 Sports) helped adding 24 points and 10 rebounds. Four Mamak DSI players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American guard Alex Gordon (184-85, college: Vanderbilt) with 40 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Enis Bayrak (204-89, agency: 1x1 Sports) scored 20 points and 5 rebounds. Mamak DSI (5-10) moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Final Genclik and I.T.U. Newly promoted Afyon dropped to the fifteenth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Istanbul DSI and Pertevniyal. Mamak DSI will meet higher ranked Socar Petkim (#6) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Afyon will play against Gediz (#10) and hope to secure a win.
