No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Istanbul Universitesi (8-2) defeated at home 7th ranked Mersin (5-5) 73-65. Istanbul Universitesi made 20-of-24 charity shots (83.3 percent) during the game. American guard Shenise Johnson (181-90, college: Miami, FL) notched a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds (made all of her twelve free throws !!!) to lead the effort and the other American import center Courtney Paris (191-87, college: Oklahoma) supported her with 11 points and 16 rebounds. Four Istanbul Universitesi players scored in double figures. Even 21 points and 8 assists by Bulgarian-American point guard Doneeka Hodges-Lewis (175-82, college: LSU, agency: LBM Management) did not help to save the game for Mersin. Hungarian center Dora Horti (193-87, agency: 1x1 Sports) added 11 points and 12 rebounds for lost side. Istanbul Universitesi have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Abdullah Gul. Mersin at the other side keeps the seventh position with five games lost. Istanbul Universitesi's next round opponent will be Edirne (#8) on the road where they are favorite. Mersin will play against Osmaniye and hope to win that game.
