Regular Season Round 13: Levski Sofia - Balkan 70-88

The biggest surprise of round 13 was guest Balkan's (9-3) easy road victory over their biggest opponent Levski Sofia (8-4) 88-70 on Thursday evening. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The guests trailed by 12 points after first quarter, but they stormed back and won the game by 18 points. Balkan looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Levski Sofia's players. The former international Ivan Lilov (196-88) fired 26 points and 6 assists for the winners. Serbian guard Pedja Stamenkovic (190-88, agency: 011 Sports) chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists. International Pavel Ivanov (200-88, agency: Interperformances) produced 20 points and 6 rebounds and Aleks Simeonov (200-93) added 20 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Five Balkan and four Levski Sofia players scored in double figures. Balkan moved-up to second place. Defending champion Levski Sofia dropped to the third position with four games lost. Balkan are looking forward to face Chernomorets (#8) in Burgas in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Levski Sofia will play on the road against Rilski (#4) in Samokov and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
