Regular Season Round 22: Cherkasy - DniproAzot 79-76

Tenth-ranked DniproAzot (4-13) was very close to win a game against fifth ranked Cherkasy (10-8). Cherkasy managed to secure only three-point victory 79-76. However their fans expected much easier game. It looked good early as DniproAzot took an 7-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Cherkasy had a 29-16 second period charge getting the lead and DniproAzot was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 76-79. Cherkasy players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. DniproAzot was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. British power forward Ashley Hamilton (201-88, college: Loyola Mary) scored 26 points and 8 assists to lead the charge for the winners and naturalized Moldovan Andrii Kalnichenko (201-86) chipped in 18 points during the contest. Five Cherkasy players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard Eugene Harris (188-86, college: High Point, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) responded with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists and his fellow American import forward Chris Ferguson (206-89, college: Mid-Continent) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Cherkasy moved-up to fourth place. DniproAzot lost third consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with 13 games lost. Cherkasy will play against Mykolaiv (#5) in Mykolaiv in the next round. DniproAzot will have a break next round.
