Regular Season Round 12: Opladen - Osnabruck 58-55

The most crucial game of the last round was another loss of top-ranked Osnabruck (10-2) in Leverkusen on Sunday night. Visitors were edged by second ranked SG BBZ Opladen (9-3) 58-55. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in North. Osnabruck was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. They outrebounded Osnabruck 38-26 including 27 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for American guard Nicole Nesbit (165-92, college: UCSB) who led her team to a victory with 17 points and 5 rebounds. Center Karolina Julia Krabbe (195) contributed with 12 points for the winners. American forward Alysa Horn (182-90, college: Alaska-Anch.) replied with 13 points and 5 rebounds and power forward Juliane Hoehne (189-83, college: IPFW) added 7 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Osnabruck. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. SG BBZ Opladen maintains second position in North with 9-3 record behind leader Osnabruck. Osnabruck at the other side still keeps top place with two games lost. SG BBZ Opladen are looking forward to face Wolfpack Wolfenbuettel (#4) on the road in the next round. Osnabruck will play against Zehlendorf and is hoping to win this game.
