There was no surprise when 8th ranked TSV Amicitia (4-8) lost on the road to fourth ranked BasCats Heidelberg (8-4) 61-48 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by BasCats Heidelberg. TSV Amicitia was better in third quarter 17-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. BasCats Heidelberg dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to TSV Amicitia's 24. BasCats Heidelberg forced 19 TSV Amicitia turnovers. It was a good game for American center Erica Carlson (193-88, college: Dixie St.) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 16 rebounds and 6 blocks. Center Berit Adrion (183-88) contributed with 11 points for the winners. Four BasCats Heidelberg players scored in double figures. BasCats Heidelberg's coach Dennis Czygan used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Jennifer Mocanu (172-90) replied with 16 points and 4 assists and power forward Jeanne Wilson (190-86) added 10 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for TSV Amicitia. BasCats Heidelberg maintains fourth position in South with 8-4 record, which they share with Speyer. Loser TSV Amicitia keeps the eighth place with eight games lost. BasCats Heidelberg will face Rhein MB II (#9) in Langen in the next round where they are favorite. TSV Amicitia will play at home against Ladybaskets Wuerzburg and hope to win that game.
