Very predictable result when fifth ranked Banvit BK (10-5) won against 15th ranked Tofas (4-11) in Balikesir 76-62 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Banvit BK. Tofas was better in fourth quarter 24-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for Dominican-American guard Sammy Mejia (198-83, college: De Paul) who led his team to a victory with 17 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international guard Can Mutaf (190-91) contributed with 14 points for the winners. Four Banvit BK players scored in double figures. Banvit BK's coach Zoran Lukic used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American center Brian Qvale (210-88, college: Montana) answered with 16 points and 7 rebounds and the other American import swingman Lamar Patterson (196-91, college: Pittsburgh) added 14 points in the effort for Tofas. Banvit BK have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Besiktas. Tofas lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fifteenth position with 11 games lost. Banvit BK will face Karsiyaka (#6) at home in the next round. Tofas will play against Eskisehir Basket (#16) in Edirne and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
