Ninth-ranked Hoverla (6-13) gave a tough game to second ranked Budivelnyk (17-3) in Frankivsk on Sunday. The visitors from Kyiv managed to secure only two-point victory 61-59. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Hoverla. The guests trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 22-8 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. It was a great evening for the former international point guard Denys Lukashov (190-89, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) who led his team to a victory scoring 14 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Naturalized Lithuanian center Michailis Anisimovas (216-84) helped adding 11 points and 8 rebounds. Budivelnyk's coach Vitaliy Cherniy used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. American point guard Mackey McKnight (183, college: Lehigh, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) responded with 19 points and 5 assists and the former international Vladislav Podolian (194-86) scored 10 points. Defending champion maintains second place with 17-3 record having just one point less than leader Khimik. Hoverla at the other side keeps the ninth position with 13 games lost. Budivelnyk will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Hoverla will play on the road against Ferro-ZNTU (#7) in Zaporozhye and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
