Everything could happen in Nurnberg at the game between two tied teams. Both fourth ranked Nuernberg and 6th ranked Hamburg had identical 10-6 record. This time Nuernberg used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Hamburg 84-79 on Sunday night. Hamburg was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Nuernberg made 24-of-27 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. Nuernberg outrebounded Hamburg 38-23 including a 38-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. American point guard Braydon Hobbs (196-89, college: Bellarmine) nailed 17 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and American-Dominican Antonio Pena (204-86, college: Villanova) accounted for 18 points (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Nuernberg's coach Ralph Junge used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Canadian swingman Terry Thomas (193-91) came up with 14 points and 7 rebounds and American power forward Robert Ferguson (203-85, college: St.Joseph's) added 16 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) respectively for Hamburg in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Nuernberg maintains fourth place with 11-6 record, which they share with Heidelberg and ETB Wohnbau. Newly promoted Hamburg dropped to the seventh position with seven games lost. Nuernberg will meet bottom-ranked Ehingen/Urspringschule (#16) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Hamburg will play against MLP Academics Heidelberg (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
