Regular Season Round 24: Zalgiris - Lietuvos rytas 91-77

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Kaunas. First ranked Zalgiris faced 3rd ranked Lietuvos rytas. Host Zalgiris (19-1) defeated guests from Vilnius (16-4) 91-77. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Zalgiris's pressure prevailed and they won that period 24-16 extending their advantage to 14 points. They shot 60.3 percent from the field. It was a good game for guard Edgaras Ulanovas (197-92) who led his team to a victory with 12 points and 6 rebounds. International point guard Vaidas Kariniauskas (198-93) contributed with 11 points and 5 assists for the winners. Four Zalgiris players scored in double figures. Swingman Gediminas Orelikas (200-90) replied with 28 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and international Adas Juskevicius (194-89) added 13 points and 4 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) in the effort for Lietuvos rytas. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Zalgiris have an impressive 18-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 19-1 record. Lietuvos rytas at the other side keeps the third place with four games lost. Zalgiris will play against league's second-placed Neptunas in Klaipeda in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Lietuvos rytas will play on the road against Siauliai and hopes to get back on the winning track.
