The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Anadolu Efes (11-4) in Istanbul on Monday night. Hosts were defeated by tenth ranked Turk Telekom (7-8) in overtime 91-86. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Anadolu Efes. The guests trailed by 14 points after three quarters before their 26-12 charge, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time and get a 5-point victory in overtime. Strangely Anadolu Efes outrebounded Turk Telekom 50-30 including a 35-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. 25 personal fouls committed by Anadolu Efes helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for American forward Josh Carter (200-88, college: Texas A&M) who led his team to a victory with 15 points and 8 rebounds. His fellow American import power forward Ben McCauley (206-86, college: N.Carolina St.) contributed with 16 points for the winners. Five Turk Telekom players scored in double figures. Serbian center Nenad Krstic (212-83, agency: Beo Basket) answered with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds and Croatian forward Dario Saric (204-94, agency: Beo Basket) added 14 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Anadolu Efes. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Turk Telekom moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Trabzonspor and Torku Konyaspor. Anadolu Efes at the other side still keeps top position with four games lost. They share it with Darussafaka and Fener.Ulker. Turk Telekom is looking forward to face higher ranked Fenerbahce Ulker (#3) in Istanbul in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Anadolu Efes will play at home against Royal Hali and is hoping to win this game.
