Regular Season Round 13: Neuss - Lichterfelde 62-64

The most exciting game of round 13 in the 2.Bundesliga took place in Neuss. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 5th ranked TG Neuss (7-6) to eighth ranked Lichterfelde (7-6) 64-62 in the game for the fifth place. TG Neuss were trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 19-15 charge of Lichterfelde, which allowed them to win the game. Worth to mention a great performance of power forward Satou Sabally (189-98) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds. Center Marion Powilleit (188) contributed with 13 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. American guard Marquita Waller (180-88, college: VCU) answered with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import power forward Elizabeth Horton (185, college: Valparaiso) added 10 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for TG Neuss. Lichterfelde moved-up to fifth place in North, which they share with Neuss and Braunschweig. Lichterfelde is looking forward to face higher ranked SG BBZ Opladen (#4) in Leverkusen in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. TG Neuss will play on the road against Barmer TV in Wuppertal and are hoping to win this game.
