Regular Season Round 12: Illiabum - Oliveirense 78-79 OT

Illiabum (#9) forced the game against Oliveirense (#4) into an overtime, but lost by one point 78-79 on Saturday night. The game took place in Ilhavo. But the guests from Oliveira were better at the end. Illiabum trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 22-11 run in the last quarter tied the game at the end of regular time, But then they lost eventually overtime period 7-8. Oliveirense made 23-of-25 free shots (92.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Illiabum turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Kenyon McNeaill (185-91, college: Louisiana Tech) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 5 assists and Serbian center Dusan Sisic (206-90) who added 15 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American forward Stephen Nwaukoni (203-91, college: Hofstra) with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 17 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and Angolan forward Sergio Correia (198-85) scored 20 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Oliveirense maintains fourth position with 7-5 record. Newly promoted Illiabum dropped to the tenth place with eight games lost. Oliveirense will meet at home CAB Madeira (#6) in the next round. Illiabum will play against Galitos-Tley (#11) in Barreiro and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
