Bottom-ranked Fireballs managed to get a second victory, breaking the five-game losing streak on Saturday night. This time newly promoted Fireballs won against eleventh-ranked ChemCats Chemnitz in Bad Aibling 63-50. The game without a history. Fireballs led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding ChemCats Chemnitz to just 6 points in third quarter. Fireballs made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. They outrebounded ChemCats Chemnitz 40-27 including a 29-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. American forward Candace Williams (184-88, college: New Hampshire) scored 14 points and 8 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Serbian power forward Milena Vukicevic (188-80) chipped in 9 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Fireballs' coach Milos Kandzic used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. International point guard Tina Menz (175-88) responded with 17 points and 5 rebounds and American center Molly Schlemer (196-92, college: Cal Poly - SLO) scored 9 points and 6 rebounds. Newly promoted Fireballs maintains twelfth position with 2-12 record. ChemCats Chemnitz lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth place with 11 games lost. They share the position with Rhein MB. Fireballs will meet higher ranked Rotenburg/Scheessel (#5) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. ChemCats Chemnitz will play against Oberhausen (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
