There was an upset when higher ranked ETB Wohnbau (11-7) was defeated on the road by thirteenth ranked BV Chemnitz 99 (7-11) 62-57 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But ETB Wohnbau won fourth quarter 20-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. BV Chemnitz 99 dominated on the defensive end, holding ETB Wohnbau to just 5 points in second quarter. They outrebounded ETB Wohnbau 43-27 including a 43-27 advantage in defensive rebounds. Americans were the main players on the court. Point guard Virgil Matthews (188-83, college: Montana, agency: Court Side) had a double-double by scoring 15 points, 9 rebounds, 10 assists and 5 steals to lead the charge for the winners and Levi Knutson (191-88, college: Colorado, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 18 points during the contest. BV Chemnitz 99's coach Kai Buchmann used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was guard Thomas Baudinet (190-89, college: St.Anselm) with 14 points and point guard Chris Alexander (186-83, college: Southern) scored 11 points and 5 rebounds. Four ETB Wohnbau players scored in double figures. BV Chemnitz 99 moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Baunach. ETB Wohnbau at the other side dropped to the sixth position with seven games lost. BV Chemnitz 99 will face higher ranked Nuernberg (#4) in Nurnberg in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
