Very predictable result when third ranked Bayern Muenchen (14-4) defeated at home 16th ranked Eisbaeren Bremerhaven (5-13) 90-84 on Saturday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 25-19. But Eisbaeren Bremerhaven won second period 21-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Bayern Muenchen looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Eisbaeren Bremerhaven was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Serbian center Vladimir Stimac (211-87, agency: Interperformances) had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Serbian Dusko Savanovic (204-83, agency: Beo Basket) chipped in 13 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was American power forward Devin Searcy (208-89, college: Dayton) with 17 points and 8 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Tyrus McGee (188-91, college: Iowa St.) scored 12 points and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion maintains third position with 14-4 record having just three points less than leader ALBA. Eisbaeren Bremerhaven lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the sixteenth place with 13 games lost. Bayern Muenchen will face Artland Dragons (#7) in Quakenbrueck in the next round. Eisbaeren Bremerhaven will play on the road against TBB Trier (#15) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
