Regular Season Round 15: Univ.Cluj - CSU Sibiu 71-97
Date: January 17, 2015
Bottom-ranked Univ.Cluj is still unable to win any game. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their 14th consecutive match to fifth ranked CSU Sibiu (8-5) 97-71 on Saturday evening. The game was mostly controlled by CSU Sibiu. Univ.Cluj managed to win third quarter 21-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. CSU Sibiu forced 23 Univ.Cluj turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for American center Christopher Lee (206-84, college: S.Carolina St.) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Serbian swingman Milos Bojovic (198-81, agency: Beo Basket) accounted for 25 points and 4 steals for the winning side. Forward Alin Borsa (201-90) came up with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds and American point guard DeAndre Mays (188-87, college: Youngstown St.) added 17 points and 5 assists respectively for Univ.Cluj in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. CSU Sibiu maintains fifth place with 8-5 record. Newly promoted Univ.Cluj still closes the standings with 14 games lost. CSU Sibiu will meet at home league's second-placed Ploiesti in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Univ.Cluj will play against the league's leader Steaua CSM (#1) in Bucuresti and hopes to get finally their first victory.
