Regular Season Round 24: Mykolaiv - Khimik 67-85

Undefeated leader Khimik delivered the twentieth consecutive win on Sunday night. This time they beat 6th ranked Mykolaiv (9-10) 85-67. The game was mostly controlled by Khimik. Mykolaiv managed to win second period 22-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was the former international center Igor Zaytsev (210-89) who scored 12 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. International power forward Maxym Korniyenko (204-87, agency: Beo Basket) chipped in 16 points. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Alexander Sizov (199-88) who recorded 12 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and center Oleksandr Kushnirov (208-92) added 13 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Five Khimik and four Mykolaiv players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Khimik (20-0) have an impressive 20-game winning streak. They maintain first position with a perfect record of 20 victories in a row. Mykolaiv lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with ten games lost. They share the position with Ferro-ZNTU. Khimik will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Mykolaiv will play at home against DniproAzot (#10) and is hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
