Regular Season Round 25: Lietkabelis - Dzukija 66-70

The game in Panevezys was also quite interesting. Sixth ranked Dzukija (12-10) played at the court of 8th ranked Lietkabelis (8-15). Dzukija managed to secure a 4-point victory 70-66 on Monday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Lietkabelis won third quarter 21-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Lietkabelis 43-32 including 29 on the defensive glass. Russian Fedor Dmitriev (204-84, agency: Alti Sport) nailed 15 points for the winning side and forward Vilmantas Dilys (208-87) accounted for 13 points. Croatian point guard Jakov Vladovic (187-83, agency: XL Basketball Agency) came up with 13 points and 7 rebounds and naturalized Canadian point guard Evaldas Zabas (188-88) added 18 points respectively for Lietkabelis in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Dzukija. They moved-up to fifth place. Loser Lietkabelis keeps the eighth position with 15 games lost. Dzukija will meet at home league's second-placed Neptunas in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Lietkabelis will play against Lietuvos rytas (#3) in Vilnius and hope to secure a win.
