Regular Season Round 15: Herner - Halle 67-55

Rather predictable result when third ranked Herner TC (11-3) won against at home 6th ranked SV Halle Lions (8-8) 67-55 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 16-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 67-55. Herner TC dominated on the defensive end, holding SV Halle Lions to just 7 points in second quarter. It was an exceptional evening for American power forward Erica Barnes (188-92, college: Arizona) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). International swingman Ireti Amojo (179-90, college: Washington St.) accounted for 20 points for the winning side. Four Herner TC players scored in double figures. American swingman Tiffany Porter-Talbert (177-84, college: W.Kentucky) came up with 15 points and 5 rebounds and the other American import guard Jasmine James (175-91, college: Georgia, agency: Josep and Nicolas) added 10 points and 8 rebounds respectively for SV Halle Lions in the defeat. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Herner TC. They moved-up to second place. SV Halle Lions lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the seventh position with eight games lost. Herner TC will meet Rhein Main Baskets (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. SV Halle Lions will play against Oberhausen (#10) and hope to secure a win.
