Regular Season Round 19: Kirchheim - Vechta 85-72

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 9th ranked SC Rasta Vechta (9-10) was defeated on the road by tenth ranked Kirchheim Knights (9-10) 85-72 on Saturday. Kirchheim Knights made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for American guard LaVonte Dority (185-91, college: Valparaiso) who led his team to a victory scoring 20 points. Center Enosch Wolf (216-90, college: Connecticut) helped adding 13 points and 10 rebounds. Four Kirchheim Knights players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard Chase Griffin (188-83, college: Pepperdine) responded with 19 points and 7 assists and the other American import point guard Derek Wright (179-86, college: Austin Peay St.) scored 13 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Kirchheim Knights moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Jena and Vechta. SC Rasta Vechta lost their third game in a row. Kirchheim Knights will meet higher ranked Nuernberg (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. SC Rasta Vechta will play against Ehingen/Urspringschule (#16) and hope to secure a win and be promoted back to the BBL just one year after relegation.
