Very important is a road loss of third ranked AstroStars (9-8) against sixth ranked Titans (10-8) on Saturday night. Visiting AstroStars were defeated by Titans in Dresden 88-71. It was a key game for the second position in Group North. Titans dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to AstroStars' 40. They outrebounded AstroStars 38-27 including a 38-27 advantage in defensive rebounds. Czech center Jaroslav Tyrna (207-86, college: New Orleans) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winners and American swingman Kevin Butler (194-89, college: Texas Arlington) chipped in 15 points and 7 rebounds. Four Titans players scored in double figures. Titans' coach Thomas Krzywinski allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American Ryon Howard (198-84, college: Sacred Heart) responded with 18 points and 9 rebounds and guard Felix Engel (191-91) scored 11 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Titans have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They moved-up to second place in Group North, which they share with Oldenburg and Rist Wedel. AstroStars at the other side dropped to the fifth position with eight games lost. They share it with Recklinghausen. Titans will play against Recklinghausen (#6) at home in the next round. AstroStars will play against Hertener Loewen and hope to get back on the winning track.
