We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 10th ranked Craiova (5-9) was defeated at home by eleventh ranked Gaz Metan (6-9) 78-73 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 42-36 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Craiova was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of Lithuanian point guard Gediminas Navickas (180-84, agency: 011 Sports) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 6 assists and Serbian-Bosnian power forward Marko Djurkovic (206-87, agency: BeoExcell) who added 15 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American forward Travis Bureau (202-88, college: La-Lafayette, agency: KMG Sports Management) responded with 19 points (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and Serbian guard Djordje Micic (196-83) scored 17 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Gaz Metan moved-up to tenth place. Loser Craiova dropped to the eleventh position with nine games lost. Gaz Metan will face higher ranked Pitesti (#3) at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Craiova will play against U-Banca TR (#6) in Cluj and hope to win that game.
