Regular Season Round 17: Recklinghausen - Magdeburg 81-77

Date: January 24, 2015
Rather predictable result when seventh ranked Recklinghausen (9-8) won against at home 9th ranked Magdeburg (8-10) 81-77 on Saturday. American-Italian swingman Joe Scott (192-88, college: St.Thomas) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points. American guard Antoine Myers (190-90, college: Troy) contributed with 18 points and 4 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) for the winners. Recklinghausen's coach Thomas Roijakkers used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Naturalized American Chris Frazier (182-90, college: Dubuque) answered with 29 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Jonathan Ghebreigziabiher (174-91) added 12 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for Magdeburg. Recklinghausen moved-up to fifth place in Group North, which they share with Bochum. Loser Magdeburg dropped to the eleventh position with ten games lost. Recklinghausen will face higher ranked Titans (#3) in Dresden in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Magdeburg will play at home against the league's second-placed Oldenburg (#2) and hope to win that game and get promotion back to the ProA just one year after relegation.
