Regular Season Round 26: Lietuvos rytas - Lietkabelis 101-95

Very predictable result in Vilnius where third ranked Lietuvos rytas (18-4) defeated 8th ranked Lietkabelis (8-16) 101-95. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. It looked good early as Lietkabelis took an 9-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Lietuvos rytas took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 6 points. They made 24-of-26 charity shots (92.3 percent) during the game. Lietuvos rytas players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. 24 personal fouls committed by Lietkabelis helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The former international guard Martynas Gecevicius (193-88) orchestrated the victory by scoring 24 points and 4 assists. International Adas Juskevicius (194-89) contributed with 13 points and 6 assists for the winners. Five Lietuvos rytas players scored in double figures. Lietuvos rytas' coach Virginijus Seskus allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Naturalized Canadian point guard Evaldas Zabas (188-88) replied with 33 points (!!!) (on 12-of-14 shooting from the field) and Russian center Ivan Nelyubov (207-88) added 19 points and 6 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) in the effort for Lietkabelis. Lietuvos rytas maintains third position with 18-4 record having five points less than leader Zalgiris. Lietkabelis at the other side keeps the eighth place with 16 games lost. Lietuvos rytas' next round opponent will be Juventus (#4) in Utena. Lietkabelis will play on the road against the league's second-placed Neptunas (#2) in Klaipeda and hope to win that game.
