There was no surprise in Coimbra where 10th ranked Academico FC (3-11) was crushed by eighth ranked Olivais (5-9) 75-54. It looked good early as Academico FC took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Olivais had a 28-12 second period charge getting the lead and Academico FC was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 54-75. Olivais made 21-of-27 charity shots (77.8 percent) during the game. They also forced 22 Academico FC turnovers. American swingman Elizabeth Beynnon (188, college: Marist, agency: Gamble Sports Management) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds. The former international guard Joana Bernardeco (168-90) contributed with 23 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Swingman Ana Paula Silva (168-88) replied with 20 points and 5 rebounds and international forward Francisca Braga (180-90) added 14 points and 4 steals in the effort for Academico FC. Olivais maintains eighth position with 5-9 record. Newly promoted Academico FC dropped to the ninth place with 11 games lost. They share the position with Alges and Lousada. Olivais will play against Lousada (#9) at home in the next round. Academico FC will play against AD Vagos and hopes to get back on the winning track.
