Not a big story in a game in Istanbul where 4th ranked Besiktas (10-6) was defeated by second ranked Darussafaka (12-4) 84-68 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Darussafaka. Besiktas was better in second period 20-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Darussafaka dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Besiktas' 28 and made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Besiktas 39-23 including a 28-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of naturalized American power forward Ersin Dagli (203-81, college: Alabama, agency: Interperformances) who helped to win the game recording 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and Lithuanian Renaldas Seibutis (196-85) who added 11 points and 6 assists during the contest. Darussafaka's coach Oktay Mahmudi used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side the former international guard Engin Atsur (194-84, college: N.Carolina St., agency: Beo Basket) responded with 13 points and 7 assists and Australian-Dutch forward Ryan Broekhoff (200-90, college: Valparaiso, agency: Priority Sports) scored 16 points and 7 rebounds. Five Darussafaka and four Besiktas players scored in double figures. Darussafaka have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Anadolu Efes and Fener.Ulker. Besiktas lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with six games lost. Darussafaka will face TED Kolejliler (#12) in Ankara in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Besiktas will play on the road against Turk Telekom (#9) in Ankara and hope to win that game.
