Regular Season Round 20: Brasov - Galati 89-63

The game in Brasov supposed to be also quite interesting. 6th ranked Galati (12-8) played at the court of seventh ranked Brasov (13-7). Brasov smashed Galati 89-63 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Brasov. Galati managed to win second period 21-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Galati 52-31 including a 37-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American Carla Bartee (182-85, college: Mississippi) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 22 rebounds. The other American import guard Britney Jones (172-87, college: UAB) chipped in 29 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Brasov's coach Daniel Calancea felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. International swingman Romina Filip (174-89) produced 15 points and 4 assists and American Ivory James (174, college: Wright St.) added 18 points respectively for the guests. Brasov have an impressive six-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Alexandria. Loser Galati dropped to the seventh position with eight games lost. Brasov will meet league's leader Sf.Gheorghe in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Galati will play against Cluj Napoca (#11) and hope to secure a win.
