Very important is a home loss of third ranked Gussing Knights (14-8) against fifth ranked Kapfenberg Bulls (13-9) on Sunday night. Host Gussing Knights were defeated by Kapfenberg Bulls in Gussing 91-77. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Gussing Knights. The game without a history. Kapfenberg Bulls led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Gussing Knights' 28 and made 20-of-26 charity shots (76.9 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Gussing Knights 26-14 including 19 on the defensive glass. American swingman Ian Boylan (197-83, college: CS Northridge) notched 31 points and 7 assists to lead the effort and the former international center Martin Kohlmaier (217-84) supported him with 26 points (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Five Kapfenberg Bulls players scored in double figures. Even 23 points by Bulgarian forward Aleksandar Georgiev (203-90, agency: Interperformances) did not help to save the game for Gussing Knights. American forward Marcus Heard (201-84, college: De Paul) added 14 points for lost side. Gussing Knights' coach rotated ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Kapfenberg Bulls moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Wels. Defending champion Gussing Knights keep the third position with eight games lost. Kapfenberg Bulls will play against Furstenfeld Panthers (#9) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Gussing Knights will play against the league's second-placed Gmunden Swans (#2) in Gmunden and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
