There was no surprise in Adana where 10th ranked Canik Bld (5-8) was defeated by seventh ranked Botas (7-6) 90-83 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 47-39 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Botas made 21-of-23 free shots (91.3 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American forward Lauren Ervin (191-85, college: Arkansas, agency: Two Points) fired a double-double by scoring 31 points and 13 rebounds (made all of her eight free throws) for the winners. American-Armenian swingman Quianna Chaney (180-86, college: LSU) chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 assists. Botas' coach Ceyhun Yildizoglu used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Kazakhstan-Belarusian forward Katerina Snytsina (188-85) produced 23 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and American center Marcedes Marie Walker (191-86, college: Pittsburgh) added 18 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Botas moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Edirne. Loser Canik Bld dropped to the ninth position with eight games lost. Botas will face higher ranked Abdullah Gul (#3) in Kayseri in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Canik Bld will play on the road against Hatay (#13) and hope to win that game.
