There was an upset when higher ranked Telekom Baskets (11-8) were defeated on the road by thirteenth ranked BBC Bayreuth (8-11) 101-96 on Tuesday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 21-11. But Telekom Baskets won second period 30-27. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. BBC Bayreuth made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. American forward Javon McCrea (201-92, college: Buffalo) fired 24 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. His fellow American import forward Brandon Bowman (206-84, college: Georgetown) chipped in 21 points and 8 rebounds. Five BBC Bayreuth players scored in double figures. American-Italian forward Angelo Caloiaro (205-89, college: USF) produced 26 points and 4 steals and American point guard Eugene Lawrence (184-86, college: St.John's) added 19 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) respectively for lost side. Telekom Baskets' coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. BBC Bayreuth moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Ludwigsburg and Phoenix Hagen. Loser Telekom Baskets keep the sixth position with eight games lost. BBC Bayreuth will face league's leader ALBA Berlin on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
