Second Stage Round 5: Rasai - Palanga 85-97

An interesting game for Palanga (15-15) which played road game in Raseiniai against 4th placed Rasai (13-17). Third ranked Palanga managed to get a 12-point victory 97-85. The game was mostly controlled by Palanga. Rasai managed to win fourth quarter 24-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Palanga dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Rasai's 38 and made 23-of-28 free shots (82.1 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Rasai 43-29 including a 32-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Palanga looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Center Adomas Drungilas (203-90) nailed a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!), 15 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winning side and center Deividas Keburys (202-90) accounted for 22 points and 5 rebounds (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!). Five Palanga players scored in double figures. Forward Valdemaras Savostjanovas (200-84) came up with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 12 rebounds and power forward Darius Marcinkevicius (201-91) added 7 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for Rasai in the defeat. Palanga keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Delikatesas. Newly promoted Rasai keeps the fourth place with 17 games lost. Palanga will meet at home Silute (#5) in the next round. Rasai will play against Zalgiris II in Kaunas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
