BBL top team - ALBA Berlin (19-1) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they crushed thirteenth ranked BBC Bayreuth (8-12) 91-60. The game was mostly controlled by ALBA Berlin. BBC Bayreuth managed to win third quarter 23-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. ALBA Berlin dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to BBC Bayreuth's 26 and made 23-of-29 free shots (79.3 percent) during the game. ALBA Berlin forced 19 BBC Bayreuth turnovers and outrebounded them 38-19 including a 24-12 advantage in defensive rebounds. ALBA Berlin looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. 26 personal fouls committed by BBC Bayreuth helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American forward Jamel McLean (203-88, college: Xavier, agency: Beo Basket) orchestrated the victory by scoring 12 points and 9 rebounds. International swingman Niels Giffey (201-91, college: Connecticut) contributed with 14 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four ALBA Berlin players scored in double figures. ALBA Berlin's coach Sasa Obradovic felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Brandon Bowman (206-84, college: Georgetown) replied with 19 points and 7 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Je'Kel Foster (194-83, college: Ohio St., agency: KMG Sports Management) added 14 points in the effort for BBC Bayreuth. ALBA Berlin have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 19-1 record. BBC Bayreuth at the other side dropped to the twelfth place with 12 games lost. They share the position with Phoenix Hagen. ALBA Berlin are looking forward to face Deutsche Bank Skyliners (#11) in Frankfurt in the next round and are hoping to win another game. BBC Bayreuth will play at home against ratiopharm Ulm and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
