Regular Season Round 15: Hagen Phoenix - Barmer TV 56-83

Date: January 31, 2015
The game between closely ranked teams ended with 11th ranked Hagen Phoenix's (3-12) home loss to tenth ranked Barmer TV (7-8) 56-83 on Saturday. The game without a history. Barmer TV led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Barmer TV forced 24 Hagen Phoenix turnovers. It was a great shooting night for Barmer TV especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. The best player for the winners was American guard Paige Sickmiller (175, college: Wayne St., MI) who scored 25 points and 5 rebounds. Point guard Franziska Goessmann (170-89) chipped in 23 points. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Leonie Schuetter (177-98) who recorded 20 points and swingman Elina Stahmeyer (180-91) added 9 points respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Barmer TV moved-up to seventh place in North, which they share with Hannover and Braunschweig. Hagen Phoenix lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with 12 games lost. Barmer TV will face Braunschweig (#9) at home in the next round. Hagen Phoenix will play against TG Neuss and hope to win that game.
