Regular Season Round 16: Rhein MB - Herner 60-75

Not a big story in a game in Langen where 11th ranked Rhein Main Baskets (3-13) were defeated by second ranked Herner TC (12-3) 75-60 on Saturday. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Herner TC's pressure prevailed and they won that period 21-12 extending their advantage to 15 points. They dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Rhein Main Baskets' 26. Herner TC forced 20 Rhein Main Baskets turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Teya Wright (186-89, college: Providence) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds and international swingman Ireti Amojo (179-90, college: Washington St.) who added 17 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American guard Katie Yohn (180, college: Bradley) responded with 11 points and 9 rebounds and her fellow American import guard Jazmine Redmon (173-91, college: Gonzaga) scored 11 points and 4 assists. Rhein Main Baskets' coach rotated ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Herner TC have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 12-3 record having five points less than leader Wasserburg. Rhein Main Baskets lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh place with 13 games lost. Herner TC will face BC Pharmaserv Marburg (#8) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Rhein Main Baskets will play against Oberhausen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
